We all know what a diet is. In fact, when we think of the word diet, the idea of ​​a series of foods that a person eats on a regular basis immediately comes to mind.

A diet can be good, average, or bad. What we enter our body is part of us (literally) and helps us obtain the necessary energy to carry out our daily activities.

We believe that diet is something that only involves the body and the food that we enter into it. However, the diet is more than solid and liquid food for the body. A comprehensive diet involves the mental part, that is, it considers all the information, thoughts and ideas with high intellectual, sentimental and spiritual value.

I even dare to say that this type of diet is even more important than the nutritional diet. Since a good mental diet will automatically drive you to stop bad habits and implement healthier ones.

What is the mental diet?
Surely you already have an idea of ​​what a mental diet is, however let me go a little more in detail.

A mental diet means taking control of all (or most) of the thoughts that go through your mind.

As you can imagine, it is not a simple process, since to achieve it, it is necessary to take care from the type of information you see on social networks (which does not bring you anything good and is of no use to you), to the memories you may have from the past you bring to your mind again and again that they prevent you from enjoying the now and living the present moment.

As with the food you eat, which becomes part of your body and will serve as fuel to carry out your activities, the thoughts that pass through your mind and you choose to keep in mind, are the ones that create your reality and will form your future through actions taken from what most steals your attention.

You are what you think
Most people do not know the power of taking care of their thoughts, nor how they have a direct impact on their future.

Your thoughts shape your emotions and feelings. At the same time, these precede your actions and reactions. Your repeated actions over time form your daily habits and rituals. These in turn form your character, and character shapes your destiny. Now do you understand why what you think creates your future?

As you can see, everything starts with what you think. What you are today is the product of a series of thoughts you had in the past. Your mind is everything, and those thoughts and ideas are governed by what you choose to focus on every day, every hour and every moment.

There are situations that you have no control over, but you will always have the option and the power to monitor your thoughts. You will always have control of what you choose to think, the way you prefer to react and the type of information that you allow to enter the temple of your mind.

Avoid thinking about what you don’t want
Many times we put all our attention on those things that we do not want and that we do not like, instead of focusing on the positive, valuable, desirable and beneficial.

When we think about what we don’t want, we bring more of it into our lives. Our mind is comfortable living as it has done so far; thinking, reacting, and feeling the same thing over and over within your known zone. That is why you will subconsciously seek more situations like that.

The more you focus on what you do not want, the more of that you will experience, since even though it is something that you do not like, it is something that you can predict, and you know very well based on your past experiences.

That is the reason why thinking about what you do not want is so harmful to your life, since it is the food with which you are nourishing your mind.

As you can imagine, it is highly unlikely that you will have great ideas and projects when you focus on what you do not want, instead of thinking positively and focusing your attention on what you do want.
