What is the Nordic Diet?
An unhealthy diet is one of the main causes of disease worldwide, in addition to increasing the risk of developing cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, among other non-communicable chronic diseases.
Therefore, it has been gaining more popularity every day, as like the Mediterranean, it is studied for the treatment and prevention of some diseases, such as cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.
The characteristics of the Nordic diet are very similar to the Mediterranean diet, but it includes traditional foods from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
Characteristics of the Nordic Diet
It is based on locally sourced plants, which guarantee less waste and help the environment, in addition to fruits, fatty and lean fish, pulses, vegetables, whole grains.
An important point of difference between the Nordic diet and the Mediterranean diet is the use of canola oil instead of olive oil.
