7 Days to Succeed in Intermittent Fasting

7 days to succeed in intermittent fasting

We hear you from here asking yourself who can be masochistic enough to inflict such a deprivation on yourself. Six days without eating, seriously? Well, even if you have to see it to believe it, or have lived it to understand it, know that fasting is within the reach of any healthy person

Monday: the digestion break
Fasting, whether short or long, brings the digestive system to complete rest. Food deprivation prompts the body to use this saved energy to flush out accumulated toxins. Stress is the first generator of toxins, followed closely by food. The beginning of the adventure begins after a rigorous preparation called “food descent”. For a week, we reduced the quantities and gradually subtracted the food families to consume only fruits and vegetables. The first day, it is “liquids only”, with a purge of prune juice, sauerkraut juice (sexy) or magnesium chloride (bowl of very salty water practically undrinkable but very effective) to empty his intestines. . After a few hours on the throne, it’s the big leap!

Tuesday: in the heart of nature
To live your fast well, you must therefore prepare it properly but also be supervised by a center approved by the Francophone Federation of Fasting and Hiking. Depending on your desires, you can find a center in the mountains, in the South of France, in Provence, in Brittany, near the ocean or in the countryside. Fasting is often done in the middle of nature in order to be able to reconnect, take beautiful and long walks of 2 to 3 hours a day, enjoy and feed on the sun, the wind, the silence and the sea… The energy of the environment will help you draw on your resources and overcome the feeling of hunger, which disappears quickly.

Let’s go for a first full day of fasting! In the morning, we drink a glass of apple juice before embarking on a 13km hike in the countryside with steep drops, the equivalent of 30 floors. We feel that our body has many more reserves and resources than we think. Part of the hike is done in silence. In the evening, we drink a glass of vegetable broth and go to bed. Like all the days that will follow.

Wednesday: elimination symptoms
If you have never fasted, you must be accompanied to be followed and reassured. As incredible as it sounds, fasting does not make you hungry. We dissociate the desire to eat and the fact of being hungry. But symptoms of the elimination of toxins, wastes and acids can be manifest and cause for concern. If we have nightmares with an alarm clock every 2 hours, that’s normal. The body cleanses itself and can make us pay for past excesses. Headaches, vomiting, or chills can also occur during the fast. These inconveniences are quite normal and go away as soon as you walk or ventilate. We flush out toxins and literally clean up to lighten up body and mind.

Thursday: fast to heal yourself
Bowel pain, headaches, skin problems, insomnia… taking a break can help relieve the pain or discomfort associated with a poor diet. Considered the second brain, the digestive system once at rest allows the body to do a life-saving reboot.

Did you know ? In Germany, therapeutic fasting is recommended to treat states of chronic exhaustion, depression, metabolic diseases and inflammatory joint pathologies. The fast is even reimbursed by German social security!

At this point, the positive effects are finally felt: energy and vitality, appeasement, weight loss. We sleep better, the skin of the face is more rested. We are also rid of small inconveniences or discomfort related to digestion.

Friday: motivation is the key
It’s good, we’re on the right track! Now is the time to stay motivated. If we want to cry, let’s go! And the yoga session in front of the ocean is just right. We empty our heads and we take advantage of the moment. Morale is high.

To undertake such an experiment, it must be done for the right reasons. Offer your body a moment of respite, a peaceful break in the heart of nature, restorative nights. Fasting is a journey to the heart of its sensations, where your body and mind unload accumulated excess, frustration and pain. We must therefore be fully available and attentive. No job, no stress, no diet. The weight does not matter, if the fast is experienced as a deprivation, it will not work.

Saturday: beware of excess!
The end of the experience is looming and with it, the resumption of food, the most important and risky step. “All imbeciles know how to fast, only the wise know how to take it back” explains Isabelle, director of the course.
